I'm a big believer in having a seat at the table and acting as a co-author to the strategy of a company. That means understanding the business as a whole and the value proposition in order to create meaningful products that focus on what we need to do and why.
Product design is tough! It's a roller coaster at times and working in a supportive team that has your back and is there to push you with ideas, critiques and thoughts is crucial. Not just for squad health but for growth as a team too.
I think there is a fine balance to creating products at speed and quality. The most powerful way is to get your hypothesis out the door and testing with real users. It's beneficial for the user, the team and the business longevity overall.
It's easy to offer solutions but as a product designer it's about asking the right questions and drilling down to the key root of an issue as well as focusing on keeping the process centred around users. This helps to focus on the problem holistically and not jumping on initial solutions.
Building a product that encompasses everyone is a strong way to not only help users find the product experience intuitive but also to help increase reliability, delight and instilling key behaviours.
I love the opportunity to get into a users mind and learn more about their pain points as well as their needs. Keeping the process user centric is really powerful in creating a intuitive product that not only fulfils business needs but also genuinely helps the user in their every-day life.
